of course I too love India and it's culture. however, the plight of the poor, low castes, and tribal people is horribly cruel. the corrupt society with it's pathological emphasis on hierarchy makes upward mobility all but impossible for these marginalized groups, which actually make up the majority of India's population. the rich and privelidged develop a very thick skin, and don't see the atrocious conditions right in front of their faces. No doubt they can't care, because the horrific nature and scale of the social problems is so overwhelming that it causes a kind of mass hypnosis of denial. The truth is too hard to face, so they deny or ignore it.
