Ayutthaya, Thailand's Ancient Capital
Photos from Ayutthaya
Current-day Ayutthaya holds the Thai king's summer palace which is used for official events, including hosting foreign dignitaries. Ayutthaya's historic areas hold numerous ancient Buddhist stupas and pagodas. Many of them resemble Cambodia's Angkor Wat temples, and whose construction dates from approximately the same time frame, the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.
Below are some of Thailand's oldest stupas, dating from the thirteenth century.
